THE MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION (MBSR) PROGRAM

MBSR is an eight-week course scientifically designed to teach participants how to integrate and apply mindfulness both in their everyday lives and to the range of challenges arising from medical and psychological conditions and life stresses.  In this intensive training you will learn to access and cultivate your natural capacity to actively engage in caring for yourself relieve stress, find more balance, ease and peace of mind. This adult class is open to the general public. It is designed as educational instruction to learn the basic foundations of mindfulness and meditation.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

Throughout the course you will be working with your own stress, pain and illness - along with the challenges and demands of your daily life.  Learning will focus on your direct experience of how practicing meditation and mindfulness-based self-regulatory skills creates emotional and mental resilience as you cultivate and train in mindfulness techniques using your own internal resources. This is the primary aim of the course.

This highly participatory, practical course includes:

  • Guided instruction in meditation practices

  • Gentle stretching and mindful yoga

  • Inquiry exercises to enhance awareness in daily life

  • Group dialogue and small group exercises

  • Daily home practice

  • Guided audio files for home practice

  • Workbook with a course guide, daily logs, readings and resources to train in and support your practice

  • Teacher access to suppor you during the course
